A Minnesota Lakeside Wedding

When Jane and Peter met, they discovered a shared fondness for the small town of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where they had both spent many summers growing up. So when Peter popped the question, they quickly selected his family’s cabin as the place to get married. Staying true to the location, the bride and groom chose a wedding theme that celebrated the joys of lake living.

A bright red vintage truck displays a large sign that announces the wedding theme, and overflows with dahlias, hydrangeas, roses, nandina berries, bush ivy, weigela, bay leaves, olive branches, and eucalyptus.

The bride, in a Vera Wang gown, carries a bouquet with a muted color palette.

The bride’s bouquet was made of dahlias, garden roses, spray roses, parrot tulips, ranunculus, calluna, jasmine, bay leaves, olive branches, bush ivy.

The couple's Labrador Retriever mix wore a collar of bay leaves, olive branches, and eucalyptus for the special day.

Bridesmaids wore dresses in a nude shade, and carried bouquets made of dahlias, garden roses, spray roses, ranunculus, calluna, weigela, bay leaves, and olive branches.

A variety of fruit waters and lemonade were available to guests before the ceremony.

Overlooking Lake Sallie, the bride and groom say their vows beneath an arbor made of dahlias, garden roses, spray roses, hydrangeas, bay leaves, and olive branches.

The groom’s nephews and niece (who is holding a colorful bridesmaid bouquet) take a break from their wedding-day responsibilities.

Floral designer Jackie Reisenauer and her team at Munster Rose decorate chandeliers with greenery to meet the bride’s vision of bringing outdoor elements inside the tent.

“Shoreham Sip” cocktails made with vodka, lemonade, and pomegranate seeds are topped with fresh basil.

Reception tables are cleverly named after some of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes and decorated with arrangements of dahlias, ‘Sahara’ roses, garden roses, spray roses, hydrangeas, ranunculus, bay leaves, olive branches, eucalyptus, bush ivy, and viburnum berries.

Old canoes are outfitted with elements for the bar, which is draped with a garland accented with dahlias, garden roses, spray roses, and hydrangeas.

Red and orange dahlias echo the reception’s cheerful atmosphere.
