“I call this room ‘Betty’s Garden,’ an homage to my late aunt who loved flowers and collecting beautiful things. She taught me to do the same.” – Lisa Mende
Bedroom
A Thibaut wallpaper mural, profuse with blooms, birds, and butterflies, envelops the room. “I also like to give the ‘fifth wall’ interest, and this was a perfect opportunity for a trellis wallpaper on the ceiling.” Lisa pays equal attention underfoot with a radiating carpet design from The Rug Company.
The trim on the leading edge of the curtains references back to the ceiling pattern, as well as to the scallops on the luxurious bedding from Pioneer Linens. Blue-and-white porcelain from Replacements fills shelves in the Jonathan Charles bureau.
Charlotte artist Stephen Wilson embroidered the headboard with flowers seen in the wall covering. Lisa pinned on embroidered butterflies for additional dimension. Read more about Lisa and Stephen’s collaboration and see more of Stephen Wilson’s art.
A Kalpa Louis XVI chest is topped with an oyster-shell encrusted bust, an “Alberto” table lamp from Visual Comfort, and flowers in a Mottahedeh cachepot provided by Replacements.
In the vestibule, an exuberant mirror, silver vases filled with roses, and a cloche of butterflies speak to the lush environment that awaits.
En Suite
Lisa pulled the pink and fabric and blue scalloped trim from the bedroom into the bath along with the trellis wallpaper from the ceiling. The vanity is by Kingdom Woodworks.
FLORAL SPOTLIGHT
“Inspired by nature, I love to design a multi textured, loose and wild arrangement of flowers. Let’s bring the outdoors, inside!” says floral designer Mary Pinson. Lisa Mende filled the bureau in her bedroom with blue-and-white porcelain from Replacements. Mary flowered the collection with arrangements of butterfly ranunculus, thistle, anemones, rice flowers, antique hydrangeas, roses, straw flower, light blue delphinium, and brown Queen Anne’s lace.
See more of Mary’s arrangements on her website and follow her on Instagram.
